CHAPTER SEVEN
Ignacy Lastowski and
Petronela Lutkiewicz
Petronela Lutkiewicz was born around 1796 in Lithuania. She was the daughter of Szymon Lutkiewicz and Elżbieta Zacharzewska. She was the sister of Tomasz Lutkiewicz, my 4th great-grandfather. She was my 5th great-aunt. On January 17, 1812, she married Ignacy Lastowski in Krekenava (Lithuanian), or Krakinów (Polish), Parish. For context, Lithuania had disappeared from the map in 1795 and became part of the Russian Empire. In 1812, Napoleon came through Lithuania on his way to Russia. There was a lot of instability in the country at the time in which Petronela and Ignacy lived. Petronela and Ignacy had the following children:
⢠Elżbieta Lastowski was born around 1812. She died in infancy on December 9, 1813 in Goszczuny Territory.
⢠Marianna Madgalena Lastowski was born on November 28, 1814 in Goszczuny Territory. She was baptized in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Parish. Her godparents were Kazimierz Lutkiewicz and Barbara Downorwicz, Deorota Audroska, Marianna Lastowska and Catherine Lutkiewicz.
⢠Petronela Lastowski was born on May 15, 1815 in Goszczuny Territory. She was baptized in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Parish. Her godparents were MichaÅ Gosciewicz and Rozalia IÅgowska. She married Nikodem Borowski on September 28, 1841 in Krekenava (Lithuanian), or Krakinów (Polish), Parish.
⢠Konstancia Lastowski was born around 1818. She married Dionizy Adam Gosztowt on October 22, 1835 in Krekenava (Lithuanian), or Krakinów (Polish), Parish. More about them in the next section.
⢠Nikolaj Lastowski was born on April 8, 1821 in Goszczuny Territory and was baptized in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Parish. His godparents were Józef Jodkiewicz and (the first letter of the first name is missing on the document) ?osina Gosciewicz.
⢠Jerzy Wincenty Lastowski was born on April 22, 1825 in Goszczuny Territory and baptized in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Parish. His godparents were Jacob Januszkiewicz and Gloria Nawlika.
⢠Wincenta Agata Lastowski was born on January 21, 1828 in Goszczuny Territory and baptized in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Parish. Her godparents were Michael (last name not readable on the record) and Zofia Downarwicz. On January 27, 1848, Wincenta married Józef Borowski in Krekenava (Lithuanian), or Krakinów (Polish), Parish. More about them in the next section.
Their daughters, Konstancia and Wincenta, had grandchildren that immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s.
Ignacy Lastowski died on February 12, 1939 at the age of 70. Petronela died on December 16, 1884 at the age of 88. Both of them were buried in PociÅ«nÄliai (Lithuanian), or Pacunele (Polish), Cemetery.
Konstancia Lastowska
Konstancia Lastowska was the 4th child born to Ignacy Lastowski and Petronela Lutkiewicz around 1818. Lastowska was the female ending of her fatherâs last name of Lastowski. In Lithuania, there was a female and male ending for all last names.
Konstancia, at 20 years old, married Dionizy Adam Gosztowt on October 22, 1835 when Dionizy was 25. Dionizyâs parents were Tadeusz Gowsztowt and Elżbieta Gosztowtowna. Dionizy was the first of nine childrenâPaul (1812-?), Jan (1815-?), Aleksander (1817-?), Antoni (1819-?), Ewa (1821-?), Józef (1824-1845), Teofila (1826-?), and Eustachy (1830-?).
The Gosztowt (Polish) or Goštautai (Lithuanian) family was a Lithuanian-Polish noble family and one of the most influential magnate families in the 15th and 16th centuries.
